History of Computer Over 2 Decades, and Its Progress

Introduction – History of Computer

We are going to talk about History of computer. The past two decades have ushered in a wave of new technologies. Here’s how they evolved from computer size and memory all the way through smartphones and the cloud, and it changed it history of computer.

1970s : Early Computer Size and Memory

  • The earliest computers were huge, and only a few of them had the same size as your desktop computer today.
  • Memory was measured in bytes, not gigabytes or terabytes.
  • In 1971, Intel invented the first microprocessor.

1980s : The Rise of Personal Computers

Talking about History of Computer, the 1980s saw the rise of personal computing. The personal computer was invented in the 1970s, but it took until the 1980s for personal computing to become mainstream.

In 1981, IBM released its first Personal Computer (PC). It was powerful enough to run many applications, but most importantly it had an open architecture that allowed other companies to design products for it, such as printers and modems.

Also in 1981, a great initiative in the history of computer, Apple released its first Macintosh computer, which featured a mouse for inputting commands instead of a keyboard like IBM PCs did at that time. Although not as powerful at first due to its 8-bit processor compared with 16-bit processors used by IBM PCs at that time.

The Macintosh soon became popular because of its graphical user interface (GUI) which made it easier to use than DOS systems used primarily on IBM PCs.

1990s : the World Wide Web, Email and Online Gaming

The 1990s was a decade of technological advancements. In 1989, Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web. His colleagues at CERN (where he worked) soon developed a browser called Mosaic, which became the first web browser available to the public in 1993. The first email was sent by Ray Tomlinson on November 21, 1971.

The first online gaming platform [and now household name] Club Penguin was founded in 2005 as part of a school project by Canadian teenager Brent Dyer; it went on to evolve into an international brand with over 200 million users worldwide before being acquired by Walt Disney Company for $350 million in 2007. This is how the history of computer evolved.

2000s : the Rise of Smartphones and Social media

Here we are going to talk about a new turn in the history of computer. The 2000s saw the rise of smartphones and social media, which led to changes in the way we interact with technology, but also the way we interact with each other.

The smartphone brought mobile computing into the mainstream, creating an entirely new mobile industry that has transformed how we live our lives. Not only can you make calls, send messages and browse the web on your phone—you can now pay for groceries or order dinner using your phone!

The growth in popularity of social media over this decade was also significant, as people increasingly communicated via text rather than voice calls or emails. To accommodate this change in communication style, software developers created apps with features like messaging systems. So that, users could chat instantly with their friends while still using their phones for other tasks such as checking email or researching shopping deals online.

2010s : Software as a Service, Mobility, and the Cloud

You may have heard of cloud computing, mobile computing, or software as a service—but you probably aren’t aware of their massive impact on the field. These concepts are so popular that they have taken over the industry and changed how we consume technology.

A brief history: The concept of SaaS (software as a service) was introduced in 2002 by Salesforce to allow users to access their software over the internet instead of installing it on their own servers. This approach allowed companies to reduce costs by eliminating hardware and maintenance fees, while giving users access to more features through newer versions with less downtime than traditional software programs required.

Cloud computing refers to accessing data through internet-based servers instead of locally installed applications; this is particularly useful for remote workers who need access from any device with an Internet connection at any time—at home or abroad! It also means that companies do not need large amounts of storage space on site any more because everything runs from offside systems like Amazon’s AWS platform. Mobile refers to “mobile devices,” which refers back again–you get it now?

The Past Two Decades Have Ushered in a Wave of New Technologies.

Regarding history of computer, in the past two decades, the world of computing has moved at a breakneck pace. The first decade saw the rise of smartphones and mobile devices, while the second decade was dominated by social media and cloud computing.

Conclusion

The past two decades have ushered in a wave of new technologies. We now have smartphones, social media platforms, and software that can be used on any device with an internet connection. These developments have changed how we work and communicate with each other in ways that would have seemed unimaginable just a few years ago.
