Who is Usha Vance
A woman who somehow has America in her name. Usha Chilukuri Vance, the wife of U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, is now one of the most influential personalities in the country. Born Jan. 6, 1986, in San Diego, Usha grew up in a highly respected family of Indian descent.
Her father, a mechanical engineer and teacher at San Diego State University, and her mother, a molecular biologist at the University of California, raised her in an academic atmosphere that has inspired Usha from a young age to excel and nurture a deep curiosity about the world.
He graduated from Mt. Carmel High School and then continue his studies at Yale and complete some experiences that allowed her to travel abroad. When she returns to Yale, enrolls in the law school, ready to pursue a career as a lawyer.
After finishing his studies, he began working as legal assistant, working with names such as John Roberts, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amul Thapar. It was in 2019, however, that he obtained a position in the Bar and began working for or law firm Munger, Tolles & Olson.
A path that the woman decides to to abandon precisely in 2024, at a decisive moment for his family and the country’s future: Usha chooses to devote himself to his family and to follow her husband J.D. Vance in his political career alongside Donald Trump.

The love between Usha and James David Vance was born amidst the university benches. The two have met in 2010 and right away, thanks in part to their common interests, they began a very solid relationship. J.D. Vance himself describes her as his “spiritual guide at Yale” and, after graduation, they get married.
“When J.D. met me, he addressed our differences with curiosity and enthusiasm. He wanted to know everything about me, where I came from, what my life had been like,” Usha explained in July 2024 during a Republican convention.
In 2014, the two get married in an interfaith ceremony in Kentucky, beginning their life together in Ohio. Since their marriage three children are born: Ewan, Vivek and Mirabel. As the years went by, Usha turned out to be a irreplaceable support for Vance, not only as a life partner but also as a guide in times of professional and personal challenge.
Having abandoned her own job in favor of J.D. Vance’s political career alongside Donald Trump and at the expense of Kamala Harris, Usha is now officially the American second lady.
A role that will allow her to help her husband by once again confirming her value as the support that has always distinguished her within their relationship: “He instinctively understood the questions I didn’t even know to ask and always encouraged me to look for opportunities I did not suspect existed,” the new vice president recounted within his autobiography American Elegy.
